CHICAGO: Update..

We are back from Chicago. Let me just tell you it was not a fun trip. On the way down we ended up flying into Milwaukee and taking the Amtrak train into Chicago. This alternate route was suggested to us by the gate agent in Cleveland. I am glad we took her advice. Anyways, we arrive into Chicago and take the subway downtown. It is 90 degrees and we have no idea where we are going. My daughters test starts at 1pm and it is 12:30 when we arrive downtown. We get lost and lost, carrying our luggage and have blisters on our feet.

She finally arrives at her test, 40 minutes late and they won't let her take it. Talk about upset. This is not a cheap college and I am not happy. We are so exhausted and frustrated we decide to go back to the hotel near the aiport and check in. Take the subway, another 40 minutes, catch the shuttle to the hotel. We settle into the hotel, put on our bathing suits and head to the pool. Relaxed and cooled off at the pool for about an hour and then head to Chilis for dinner. After dinner we are in bed at 8pm after a long day of traveling. We have to get back up at 5am so she can attend her orientation at 8am. We wouldn't want to be late again. Take the hotel shuttle to airport, bus to first subway stop (Chicago airport subway is under contruction-go figure) and head downtown again. Walk 10 blocks or so to her orientation. She made it in time. Thank God. Orientation is 8-5pm so we all plan on meeting at Millenium park at 5.

So now Emma and I can see Chicago. More about our trip to come with next post and pictures too. Wait until you hear about our trip home.
